CES : The Best of CES
CES 2017 was a watershed year for technology. From CES’s massive array of new and innovative products, to the industry’s biggest conferences and exhibitions, there was something for everyone this year. Here are our favorite picks from the show floor:
1. Intel’s launch of its new 9th-generation Core processors set the tone for the show. These processors come with up to 12 cores, making them the most powerful ever made.
2. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ were the stars of the show. With their Infinity Display, Edge-to-Edge Display and Wireless Charging, these phones set the standard for Android phone design.
3. HTC’s Vive Pro VR headset was a revelation. With its updated tracking technology, it offers a much better experience than the original Vive.
4. LG’s OLED TVs were a big hit this year. With their deep blacks and glossy finishes, they offer a level of detail and picture quality that’s hard to beat.
5. Dell’s Inspirion 17 laptop was a favorite of ours. With its sleek design and powerful specs, it offers great value for money.
CES : The Worst of CES
CES is the place to be for tech enthusiasts across the globe. From the newest gadgets, to the latest in home entertainment, this is the place to be.
The problem is, this year was particularly bad. Not only was there little in the way of new innovation, but the major players failed to live up to their usual standards.
First, let’s take a look at the gadgets. We were promised a bevy of new Android phones this year, but few if any of them materialized. Samsung, in particular, was disappointingly absent with no major releases at all. LG, on the other hand, released a bevy of new phones, but they were all plagued by software issues.
Then there are the home entertainment products. We were promised the launch of the much-anticipated Apple HomePod, but it was delayed until after the holidays. In its place, we got a slew of new Sonos products that were plagued by similar software issues.
Finally, the biggest disappointment of the year has to be the annual Google I/O conference. This year’s keynote was nothing short of disastrous. While there were a few new announcements, most of the big news was overshadowed by the fallout from the Google firing of James Damore.
So there you have it. The worst of CES.
